Digital detox, connecting more deeply with nature, clients and caring for our planet

A very belated happy new year to you.

I did something quite unplanned. It has been two months since disabled my personal Facebook page. (I do still have my business Facebook page). I may come back as I have lots of lovely people on my personal page too but this is why I did it.

You see I am in the middle of having a bit of a digital detox (reading some great books on this) and looking how to be more intentional with my time and new ways or maybe adapting back to the old ways to connect better with people.

This digital detox is helping me to reflect on how I want 2022 to look like . How can I better connect with clients, how can I serve my clients better, how can I use social media more creatively, how can I help the planet more and spend more time in nature, how can I weave my personal values with my business even more.

So far this is what I have come up with by spending less time on social media I can:

Improve client experience - I am going spend more time talking to real people by asking previous clients what they liked about working with me and what I can improve on from first point of contact right through to after they receive their images.

Gorgeous clear product guides - Show people all the options and answer lots of questions on what is available by updating product guide and personal shopping galleries whilst looking at my carbon footprint.

Reintroduce mini shoots - This gives people the opportunity to make a lower investment for less time with me but still receive amazing portraits. Great for previous and new client’s milestones and as an introduction to working with me for business owners too and nature based mini shoot days.

Look after our beautiful planet - I am committed to carry out my business in an ethical way. I am on a CSR course currently (corporate social responsibility) and working toward being accredited. This one is hugely important to me. CSR is a huge subject and I cannot wait to share more when I finish my course and to write a blog about my learnings and my goals.

Create helpful content - Blogging here is going to be the priority with any new content I create then share later on social media rather than thinking of what to post on social media. Nurture my blog first.

Improve my art - I am going to make time to learn more tricks in 2022 with lighting and posing clients in natural enhancing ways. This has already started with trying new lights and tethering thanks to a repeat client.

Connect more with people offline - To book more calls, zooms, coffees, walks whichever is best for a client.

To work with other businesses - I would love to help other business owners that have the same client base as mine and similar values by helping them to offer photography to their clients as a celebration of what they have achieved personally or for their business.

New online calendar - One more goal is to create a calendar so people can book a call with me more easily and maybe book a shoot here too.
